How Packers’ shocking trade with Browns affects salary cap in 2018

The Green Bay Packers certainly didn’t trade Damarious Randall on Friday night for salary cap reasons. The shocking deal, which sent Randall to Cleveland in exchange for quarterback DeShone Kizer, will free up under $1 million in cap space for the Packers in 2018. A first-round pick in 2015, Randall was about to enter the final year of his rookie deal in 2018 – although the Browns now have the ability to pick up his fifth-year option and keep him under contract through 2019. Randall was scheduled to count $2,518,641 million on the cap in 2018.
