Stastny’s big night lifts Avs over Wild

Minnesota Wild defenseman Brent Burns, front left, stops a shot off the stick of Colorado Avalanche left winger Ryan Smyth (94) as Wild goalie Niklas Backstrom, back, of Finland, comes in to cover in the third period of the Avalanche's 4-2 victory in an NHL hockey game in Denver on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007.

A good friendship off the ice has turned into great chemistry on it. Paul Stastny and Wojtek Wolski were in perfect step in the Colorado Avalanche’s 4-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Sunday night. Stastny scored twice and assisted on Wolski’s empty-net goal with a second left. “I think we’ve built a pretty good relationship,” said Wolski, who also assisted on one of Stastny’s goals.
