Eddie Sutton to coach San Francisco

Former Oklahoma State coach Eddie Sutton is honored by the University of Kansas at a college basketball game in Lawrence, Kan., in this Jan. 10, 2007, file photo. Sutton is coming out of retirement to replace Jessie Evans as the University of San Francisco's basketball coach. A West Coast Conference official familiar with the situation tells Sports Betting News that Evans was stepping down and that the 71-year-old Sutton would take over the Dons on an interim basis.

Eddie Sutton acknowledges he’s selfish: He really wants 800 wins. He also would prefer to end his career on a positive note rather than amid controversy as he did at Oklahoma State. Sutton is coming out of retirement to replace Jessie Evans as San Francisco’s basketball coach and will have his shot at 800 victories after all.
