Ducks’ Scott Niedermayer returns to ice

Anaheim Ducks' Scott Niedermayer, left, skates past Pittsburgh Penguins' Josef Melichar during an NHL hockey game in Anaheim, Calif., Nov. 6, 2006. Niedermayer will rejoin the Ducks after sitting out the first 28 games of the season.

After the Anaheim Ducks won their first Stanley Cup last summer, Niedermayer was almost completely convinced he had played his final NHL game. Gradually, as he watched the Ducks play, he changed his mind.
