PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Can’t get much better at the 17th hole than Ryan Moore’s shot Thursday. His hole-in-one is the ninth in the history of THE PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass’ island green. Moore used a 54-degree sand wedge to record the fifth ace in his career. “I was just waiting to go see where the ball went and then no ball showed up,â€ Moore said after finishing his round of 67. “So then from there, obviously we got excited. Couldn’t have a more amazing hole to have an ace on, obviously one of the most iconic holes in golf.â€ There were other highlights – and, as usual, a few lowlights (sorry, Paul Casey – two balls in the water) in the first round. ROUND 1
By the numbers: No. 17 at THE PLAYERS Championship
