Roenick doesn’t retire, joins Sharks

Philadelphia Flyers center Jeremy Roenick skates up the ice during third period NHL action against the Ottawa Senators in Ottawa in this Jan 30, 2002 file photo. Roenick signed a one-year contract with the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday, postponing retirement for another shot at a Stanley Cup.

Jeremy Roenick thinks he still has the skills and the desire to help the San Jose Sharks’ next run at the Stanley Cup. He’ll even keep his mouth shut to prove it. The nine-time All-Star signed a one-year, $500,000 contract with the Sharks on Tuesday, postponing retirement for the chance to get his 500th goal while chasing his first championship.
