The Florida Panthers claimed checking forward Garth Murray off re-entry waivers from the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday. The Canadiens will be responsible for half of the remainder of Murray’s $625,000 salary for this season, and their share will count against the salary cap. “Garth is a quality, character guy who competes hard every shift,” Panthers general manager and coach Jacques Martin said.
