Thrashers to Winnipeg announcement set?

FILE - In this Feb. 3, 2011, file photo, Atlanta Thrashers defenseman Ron Hainsey (6) dives for the puck as Thrashers goalie Ondrej Pavelec looks on in the first period of an NHL hockey game against the Calgary Flames in Atlanta. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly and True North Sports and Entertainment denied a deal has been reached to sell the team to True North, which would relocate it to Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Globe and Mail in Toronto reported Thursday, May 19, 2011, that the Thrashers' agreement with True North was done and will be announced in Winnipeg on Tuesday.

First, the Flames. Now, the Thrashers. Atlanta has become the first city in the NHL’s modern era to lose two hockey teams as the Thrashers’ owners agreed Tuesday to sell the struggling franchise to a group that will move it to Winnipeg next season. True North Sports and Entertainment announced the deal during a news conference at Winnipeg’s MTS Centre, where the team will play.
