University of Connecticut basketball coach Jim Calhoun is taking an indefinite medical leave of absence. The Hall of Fame coach, who turns 70 in May, has been suffering for several months from spinal stenosis, a lower back condition that causes him severe pain and hampers mobility, the school said Friday in a news release.

After missing three games for undisclosed reasons, Syracuse center Fab Melo is set to return for the No. 3 Orange’s game at St. John’s on Saturday. The Orange announced Melo’s return in a release posted on their team website. Michigan State forward Draymond Green has been diagnosed with a sprained left knee. Green had an MRI on Wednesday and is listed as day to day.
