Berkmeyer takes medallist honors in US Mid-Amateur

Richard Berkmeyer earned the top match-play spot in the U.S. Mid-Amateur, shooting a 1-over 71 at Milwaukee Country Club on Sunday for a one-stroke victory over Tim Mickelson in stroke-play qualifying. Berkmeyer, from St. Louis, had a 2-under 138 total. He opened with a 67 on Saturday at Brown Deer Park.
