M’s activate Morrow, place Silva on DL

The Seattle Mariners placed struggling starter Carlos Silva on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with right shoulder inflammation. The club also activated closer Brandon Morrow from the 15-day disabled list before its game against the Minnesota Twins. The 30-year-old Silva is 1-3 with an 8.48 ERA in six starts in the second year of a $48 million, four-year contract with the Mariners.
