UCLA seeking fourth straight Final Four

UCLA hopes the fourth time will be the charm. The Bruins became just the fourth school to reach the Final Four in three straight years last spring, but the NCAA’s all-time leader with 11 men’s basketball championships has gone without a title since 1995. “That’s the goal at UCLA, to win the national championship,” sixth-year Bruins coach Ben Howland said Thursday at Pac-10 Media Day.

Many college coaches wouldn’t consider a position switch with a player coming off so good a season. Pitt coach Jamie Dixon is experimenting with such a move for the 6-foot-6 Young, partly to make better use of his outside…

In this March 16, 2007 file photo, Arizona coach Lute Olson directs his team against Purdue during the first round of the NCAA Midwest Regional basketball tournament in New Orleans. Olson has retired after 24 years with Arizona. Athletic director Jim Livengood confirmed Olson's decision Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, after hours of news reports speculating about the 74-year-old Hall of Famer's future.

Lute Olson’s doctor said Tuesday that the former Arizona basketball coach had a stroke within the last year and he advised him to retire. Posey making instant impact for Hornets

When James Posey checks into a basketball game, he reaches down below his black knee pads and pulls a mouthpiece out of his sock. Call it the sweet taste of victory for a guy who makes a living playing defense. The New Orleans Hornets certainly didn’t make the acquisition of Posey their top priority in free agency because of his career scoring average of 9.2 points.
