Avalanche re-sign Foote, Liles

The Colorado Avalanche re-signed Adam Foote to a two-year contract and John-Michael Liles to a four-year deal Monday. Foote appeared in 12 regular-season games and 10 playoff games for the Avalanche last season after he was acquired from Columbus on Feb. 26. Between Columbus and Colorado last season, he had one goal, 15 assists and 107 penalty minutes in 75 games.

Titans sign RT Stewart to extension

The Tennessee Titans signed starting right tackle David Stewart to a multiyear contract extension Monday. Stewart has started 30 games at tackle during his three-year career, including all 16 games last season. Contract details were not released. He had signed a one-year tender earlier this offseason as a restricted free agent.

Black Mamba rallied to beat Solva by a length Sunday in the $150,000 Beverly Hills Handicap at Hollywood Park. Ridden by Garrett Gomez, the 5-year-old ran a mile on the Lakeside Turf Course in 2:01.25. New Zealand-bred Black Mamba returned $4.80, $2.80 and $2.40. Solva, ridden by Aaron Gryder, returned $9.60 and $7.20.

Wild trade F Rolston’s rights to Tampa

The Minnesota Wild traded the rights to star forward Brian Rolston to the Tampa Bay Lightning for a conditional draft pick Sunday. The Wild will get a selection in either the 2009 or 2010 draft, with Wild spokesman Aaron Sickman saying Sunday night it will depend on whether Tampa Bay re-signs Rolston.

Oilers acquire D Visnovsky from Kings

The Edmonton Oilers acquired defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky from the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday for forward Jarret Stoll and defenseman Matt Greene. The 31-year-old Visnovsky had eight goals and 33 assists for the Kings last season. In 499 NHL games, he has 70 goals and 209 assists. Stoll, 26, had 14 goals and 22 assists last season.

ChiSox get revenge, finish sweep of Cubs

A trip across town made all the difference for the White Sox. Swept by the Cubs a week ago at Wrigley Field, they were the ones doing the sweeping in their home park on the South Side of town. They finished off the three-victory run at U.S. Cellular Field on Sunday night, beating the Cubs 5-1 with homers from Carlos Quentin, Brian Anderson and Jim Thome backing solid pitching from Mark Buehrle.

Casino: Lawsuit against NBA was mistake

A luxury casino on the Las Vegas Strip said Sunday the NBA should not have been included in a $50,000 lawsuit filed this month for an unpaid convention bill from 2007 All-Star Week.
